STORMS!

Whew

What a stormy Saturday we've just had!

They called it a Storm Bomb on the TV.  From when we woke up Sat am until we went to bed - wind, wind, wind and rain!

The garden (of which son has only just recently got rid of willow tree leaves) is strewn with tree debris (as was Kev's car) and we had no electricity all afternoon.

I read half a book!

However, we did go out in the morning to look at the sea on our local beaches.........before the winds got too bad and we just had to stay in:

Eastern Beach

Look at the size of those waves behind Kev and X!  Eastern Beach is a very sheltered beach - goodness knows what the other unsheltered ones facing the Pacific were like!

Howick Beach

Well - gotta go fer noo.  Apparently there's another big storm headed our way for Wednesday - woopdedoo!

Hellooooo!

Have a quick look at this song!

It's Maori language week and I thought we would have some fun with this at school!

Enjoy.

Hi all!

Well - winter has well and truly been here and hopefully is going away now (shouldn't moan really - it doesn't last that long).

I am coming to the end of my two week winter holiday and am half way through the school year in my new school.  All is good!

Adam's wisdom teeth have been removed and he came through the whole episode amazingly well - he had soup for lunch and bangers and mash for tea on the very same day!  No swelling at all!  Lucky boy!

Last Sunday was a beautiful day and felt so warm that we just HAD to go out for a walk in good old Duder national park near Maraetai - fab - but still rather damp from recent rainfalls and storms.

Found myself at one point on my hands and knees trying unsuccessfully to the grip the slippery ground with my feet.  Basically spent a few funny seconds on the side of a very steep hill running on the spot with my feet whilst holding onto the grass above me for dear life.

By the time I finished the walk I was filthy.  Kevin, on the other hand, was spotless!  Didn't I look good when we turned up in Maraetai for our fush and chups!  NOT.

At one point in the walk - I felt in my pocket for my mobile phone and wondered out loud "did I leave it in the car or have I dropped it?"  Hubby's reply was "I ain't going back to look for it", thus, I promptly decided that I'd left it in the car.

Imagine my surprise when half an our later on our slippery descent of the hill, a young man haphazardly cycled towards us on his all terrain bike and asked, "are you Sue and Kev?"  I was gobsmacked - we were in the middle of nowhere and he knew our names?!!

Well - as you may have guessed, he had found my phone lying on the ground and called a friend (most recent caller).  She spent a few minutes describing us to him and then she called our son. Son then called cyclist and got details off him on how to collect my phone.  Luckily, said cyclist reached us before any emergency measures had to take place!

What a very nice young man!

Still can't get over how a complete stranger ahoyed us in the middle of nowhere - knowing our names - it was sooo surreal!

Well - it's into work tomorrow to continue preparing for the kids coming back next week - woohooo!  Back into the swing again for another ten weeks.  The next holidays will be lovely - warm weather will be moving in and preparing us for the sun to come - yayyyy!

See you soon!
