A description of what I get up to in my new life Down Under

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Hello everyone!

Sooooo sorry I've not been on for a while.  It's been a pretty busy time lately, but all uni assignments are done and it's almost all over!  Back to school soon!  Pretty sad really cos I've very much enjoyed my study time.  Hey ho!

A lot has happened since we last spoke.  Adam has graduated, got himself a permanent job, and is now moved out and living with his uni friends who also have jobs!  Just like that!  My nest is empty - boo hoo!

Have been busy doing mundane things around the house that have been very much neglected and still need to do more - such as weeding - ........

Was very proud yesterday - spent two hours weeding my roses, putting down bark and snipping them - only to see a cat do his business right in the middle of it all!  I was on the computer at the time (there's a surprise) and had a full view of said cat.  Even banged on the window at it.  Cat just sat there giving me a complete look of disdain, carried on, then covered it with my new bark before walking off with his tail in the air.

I immediately googled how to stop this vandalism of my precious bark and roses and found out that it can be done via a liberal sprinkling of citrus fruit skins.  Have done it and am now hoping.......  Grrrrr.....

As you all know, it was the Queen's birthday weekend a couple of weekends ago and the weather was predicted to be so lovely that we went off to a bach at Waihi Beach.  What a lovely time we had.

Got there on the Friday and enjoyed beach walks - the tide was VERY high and there were a few surfers braving the cool waters.  This was followed by exploring gold mine tunnels with our torches in the Karangahake Gorge on Saturday, then a walk to Cathedral Cove on the Sunday.  We returned home on the Monday morning and helped Adam to move his stuff in the arvo.

Photos are to follow!

See ya soon!

x
