Catch up time!

Hello everyone!

Well it's Easter Monday and I have a little bit of time to catch up with you all! The photo above was taken on one of the Devonport hills - they give spectacular views of the city from one side and the view of the sea and a whole host of islands from the other.
Here's the dynamic duo with the city of Auckland behind them - looks rather stormy that day doesn't it! It was windy - as mother's hair confirms!
This photo also confirms it! Lots of people partake of kite surfing in this weather. I love watching them leap into the air, somersaulting wildly! They also whizz across the water real fast too!

The weather that day was also quite apt too - it was quite a sad day for NZ - for somewhere in the distance of the above photo, Sir Edmund Hillary's funeral was going on. Hence the flag at half mast.

World War II stuff - Auckland was on high alert in them there far distant times.

This gun can be moved in a huge circle!

Lovely view from the other side of t'hill! Actually - in the far distance is where we live! If we travel into the city by ferry - that's the route we take - and a very beautiful one it is too.

Auckland city in the distance - don't cha just lurve the palm trees!
Arty farty piccie! Well - I tried anyway!
Another one - but a bit blurred.....
Isn't this a fabbie photo? Took it as the boat was leaving the dock side. There was some sort of boatie thing going on that weekend in Auckland. Actually - it was the evening of a really cool fireworks display that we took mum and aunt to see. Unfortunately, we had to endure an hour or so of live music first - of which one act had an aged singer who was either drunk as a fart or high on something - he actually fell over once! Only in NZ eh!

Here I am waiting for the fireworks - and boy were they worth it - fantabulistic!
The photo above is the glass bottomed boat that mum and aunt were on at Goat Island.

Off they go - into the distance!

Oh - by the way - we are going to get a kayak! Woohoooooo! Can't wait. It's gonna be a double one like the one in the piccie - it can be converted so that one person can use it too. Twill keep us busy during the cooler winter months! Bagsy sitting in the front!

Off they go towards the island. As you can see - everyone is busy snorkelling and enjoying the marine life therein. Actually, you don't even need to snorkel - just stand in the water up to your knees and the fush will come!

My final photo of the day shows a creature that dwelt in the bath for quite a few days until one of us had the guts to do something about it (ie me) and by that time - it was dead! Weird looking thing - no idea at all what it was - but I flushed it down the plug hole with the shower head!

By the way - we do wash in our house - but use the shower in the other room!

Well - we are off for dim sum in a bit, so I'd better get into the shower.

Oh - Kev's in there - a couple more minutes then.

Australia is having its Olympic swimming trials in Sydney at the mo and boy are they smashing records! One world record was broken in the backstroke by a 15 year old girl and another by a 19 year old girl in the medley. Whew!

Kev and I are off to Tonga in just over 3 weeks - CAN'T WAIT! But I know I have to .......

This means that I just HAVE to buy some new togs for the trup. Will also be taking my snorkelling gear - don't think I'll be allowed to take my boogie board on the plane - shame.

Had a lovely bbq last night - got a bit tiddly and ate too much. It was very hot yesterday - Kev got very red from swumming at the local beach! As we arrived at the beach - there was an Easter church service going on! How cool is that - service on the beach. Beautiful.

Right - gotta go - shower and lovely lunch are a calling.

Tata!

x Sue

Pity you didn't take pics of the fireworks!
The weather in Rugby has ranged from Snow, hail stone blizzards, rain and heavy winds with the occasional bit of sunshine and very cold too. So enjoy your warm weather while you can. And enjoy your time in Tonga. Love from the nanas xxxxxx
